The 2021 Graduating Grade 7 class achievements include:

  • One student was awarded the Ruth First Scholarship with full academic scholarship for 2022.

Cambridge Checkpoint Exams

The Cambridge Curriculum was introduced into St James in 2016.

The first Cambridge Primary Checkpoint examination took place with the Grade 6 class of 2017.

What is Cambridge Primary Checkpoint?

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint is a series of assessments for use in the final year of primary education. It enables schools to obtain an international benchmark of learner performance to identify and address learning needs.

The results of the examination are determined on a scale of 0 to 6, 6 being the maximum.

The figures below reflect the number of students who received the maximum rating.

The average scoring for St James students is between 5 and 6.

What can Cambridge Primary Checkpoint be used for?

There are a number of ways in which Cambridge Primary Checkpoint can be used. Some of these are outlined below:

  • To help learners understand more about their strengths and weaknesses in these subjects at the end of Cambridge Primary and prior to secondary education.
  • To help teachers, parents and learners identify strengths and weaknesses, which can then act as a basis for cooperative action planning.
  • To enable teachers and schools to help learners make the most of their educational opportunities.
  • To give schools an international benchmark of learner performance to identify and address learning needs.
